Schirmer Test Strip
The Schirmer Test Strip is used to measure tear secretion. The strips produced by ERC measure the outer 1/3 of the eye using a special filter paper placed between the lower lid and the eye. If the measurement on the strip is less than 5 mm 5 minutes after the measurement, it is considered in favor of dry eye, and if it is more than 10 mm, it is considered normal.
It gives information about basal and reflex secretion of tears.
